When you follow someone, you attach yourself to the party they are in. You will officially be following the party leader, not the named player you chose to follow. Once in a party only you or the party leader can elect for you to leave the party. Logging off will have this effect. When in the same location as the party leader you will automatically follow them where-ever they go, restrictions permitting. All members in the party are notified whenever someone joins or leaves. While individuals can set the nofollow flag for themselves, if the party leader does it then no more can join the party until the leader allows it again. This is extremely useful for adventuring in groups. A final note is that a party leader cannot follow someone else unless they totally disband their party first.
