Defer will pass on the mantle of leadership to another within the clan. You may wish to leave the clan without destroying it, or are no longer up to the job of leading the team. Another may be more suited to the role and you wish to step aside. Whatever your reason this will allow you, when in a place that allows the creating/destroying of clans to make another present the clan leader.
